Lucky?  for free?  I take issue with both but since those are frequently used terms, I let them go so that we can talk about them.  Educating Africans for Christ believes in a sovereign Lord  therefore there is no such thing as luck but all is directed by Him.  Our purpose on earth is to let His grace through Jesus Christ touch us so that we reflect His character on earth.

About “for free”.  Nothing is free except grace from God.  When we are touched with that grace we respond by obeying and growing to be like Him.  It’s those well along in that growth, demonstrating Godly character that EAFC looks at to help.  They must first have the approval and financial support from their church.  It’s easy to put a stamp on an application; it’s harder to financially stand behind the applicant.  That’s when we find out who is serious and recognizes godly leadership characteristics.  Everyone wants an education;  EAFC only helps a few.

Successful trip and need for ideas

Kenya, Rwanda EAFC working trip is now history. We met church leaders that are thankful for our presence and want their churches to be involved. Rwanda needs more good educational institutions. Kenya is ready to pursue educational loans. Always interested in good ideas of how to develop this work. We welcome yours!

Kenyan, Rwandan July 2010 highlights

Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, and South Africa were represented at the first ever meeting of EAFC’s African board.  Only Zambia’s representives couldn’t make it.  For two days the board worked at “defining” their role in the development of EAFC.  INSIGHT and OVERSIGHT were the words used over and over.  THEN there was discussion of how VITAL those are who have been blessed by EAFC since 1998.  So, what if some of the 600 who have received scholarships since then became INVOLVED and INTERESTED in helping EAFC grow in the area they live?

BLOGS I hope will be full of such discussions.

ONE more IDEA:  Rwanda 1994 is still impacting this country.  Most of the EAFC sponsored students from Rwanda are studying out of country.

from Franklyn’s pastor in Sierra Leone

“Thanks for supporting Franklyn……”

“The purpose of this letter is to inform you about latest development concerning Franklyn…..As a mentor I meet with him every Wednesday for Bible study.  Honestly, he has grown spiritually over the past few months.  His knowledge of Scripture has widened, unlike previous times.  He now has strong desire for the Lord….. He is already involved in the music team and Sunday School.  In fact he is now one of the exhorters in the church.  I am very proud of him.   Academically he is doing well.  Just recently he showed me his progress report and had a 3.09 for the first semester…..I promise to do everything to help him and keep in touch with you.”

Trying to keep up

Posted By vvickery on June 16, 2010

Our webmaster is GREAT. As I mention an idea, he’s already gotten it up and going. We’re trying to find ways to stay connected, to share those things that are foundational to making EAFC unique, while we stay up to date. How do we stay up to date? Well, you can only do that when in relationship. EAFC couldn’t exist without respectful, responsible relationships, and if those 3 words don’t characterize us in reality, it’d be best if we didn’t exist. Oh, how easy it is to slide. Relationships are messy; that’s why we have CHRIST as the center of what we do, and the reason for our existence. Help us! Post on this site. Share your stories.

Welcome!
